Surya Lanka Ayurveda Beach Resort opened in 1995 and is one of the first Ayurvedic hotels in Sri Lanka to offer guests Panchakarma. It offers several authentic programmes to choose from, among them Ayurveda Light, an intensive cleansing programme and Hale.
Surya Lanka is known throughout the world for its exceptional care and generous hospitality, and has been recognised by countless guests as the “pearl” among Ayurvedic retreats in Sri Lanka.

Services of the Surya Lanka clinic
At Surya Lanka, Ayurveda has been successfully developed into a highly effective and respected medical system for guests seeking holistic well-being. The clinic focuses on two main aspects: removing the causes of illness and actively strengthening health and well-being.
- Surya Lanka offers guests 10 yoga sessions a week — five days a week, morning and evening. The yoga classes are aimed at beginners and, in part, at more advanced practitioners.
- At Surya Lanka, Panchakarma is applied strictly according to the three stages of cleansing prescribed in the original Ayurvedic texts: Purvakarma (preparatory treatment), Pradhanakarma (main treatment) and Paschatkarma (follow-up treatment).
In addition to its stunning beachside setting, Surya Lanka also has two large palm gardens where guests can rest between Ayurvedic treatments. The clinic also holds weekly activities such as group yoga in the open air, sightseeing excursions, Panchakarma talks and botanical tours of the Surya Lanka gardens.
Accommodation at the retreat
Surya Lanka Ayurvedic retreat can boast direct access to the beach at the stunning Talalla bay, one of the best-known spots on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. Talalla has a kilometre-long beach of golden sand, ideal for walks at sunrise or sunset and excellent for swimming during the European winter.
Surya Lanka was purpose-built as an Ayurvedic hotel intended solely for Ayurveda guests. Its 43 rooms are set in five separate buildings spread over extensive grounds to provide maximum privacy and quiet. Guests can choose between standard or beach rooms, or rooms in the new wing. All rooms have large balconies or terraces with a view of the sea and/or the garden.

- All doctor’s consultations: the initial one; the constitutional assessment; information about oils / medicines / diet; the mid-stay consultation and the final consultation

- A diet plan recommended by the doctor according to your medical needs
